for what the tires?
you must be getting the gold plated ones.
Did you call that Jo woman?
or won't they sell to you cause your in CA?

Good news though, I found the feed cylinder, not too bad, at $418.00..........LOL...............:whiteflag:

I did call Jo at Clausing. She was not very interested in the conversation and stated I would need to purchase from the Canadian distributor. As the call ended I wished her a Merry Christmas, She said " yea.." and hung up..

NICE business etiquette..

Mitcham Machine Tools in Toronto.

For the 2 tires they quoted ... get this..

part ( 2 ) $17.00
Shipping $150
$184.00
Tax $23.92
Total $207.92

I replied with a not so nice reply.

Tegs looked for replacement options in store, they have lager urethane tires that can be made to fit for $30.00. I chose to use the rubber vi-ton tires for $ $8.00 ea. ( a little harder than plain rubber ) They also gave the option of not using any tires as newer bandsaws do not have them. The blade just runs on the wheel like all the King brand saws in the showroom I looked at.
Tegs ordered the tires in 10 minutes, they will be delivered in 2 days.
So for the price it's worth a try.

Also: you asked if the blade can be turned inside out for these saws. Yes.

On to my next project.

Gee, that sucks.
She was pretty nice to me, I wonder why she acted like that.

l know a lot of people praise "Lynn at accurate bearing",
but I had issues with her.
She called me back one day and gave me hell.
Now I can't buy bearings from them, and have to take my chance with e bay bearings.

I know a lot of us HSM and hobby guys are not spending Thousands at a time with these places,
but that is no reason to act crappy, weather it be a 50 cent order, or a $5,000.00 order.

But yeah, I know, the modern bandsaws don't have tires.

wow! $150.00 shipping, Toronto? how far is that from you?

My shipping was like $5.00 , and Clausing is about 3 states away from me.

guy never e mailed me back about the drop cylinder.
Unless he didn't get it,I will try again.

does any one have a bandsaw that does not use a drop cylinder, I have heard there are springs, and or counterweights to do the same thing.
Any pictures of this sort of thing?
or is it best to just get a cylinder?

Toronto is about 30-45 minutes from me,

maybe another manufacturer has a drop cylinder that would work ?

Check out Grizzly or HF ?

30-35 minuets?
What were they doing, walking to deliver it for $100.00 and some dollars?
Yeah, but Im gonna pay dearly for it.
I found one for $30.00 shipped, I guess I'll get it.
I asked him if it works or needs rebuilt, but didn't hear back yet.
He is sort of slow to answer.
Well in his defense, he did not even get the 1st reply I sent.
But I heard they are easy to rebuild. Pretty much off the shelf O rings and or seals.
but l told him l have to wait a few weeks as l spent too much this month already.
Right now l am on a fixed income.

Do you have yours up and running?
How do these little bandsaws work?

I know the fixed income issue well.

I have not heard back from the shop that is making the tires for me.
I have clean up all the parts and ready to reassemble.
I am designing a blade brush for mine here is a pic of the first one I made.
It will attach to the screw on the left side blade guide assembly with 2- 3/8" od x 1/8" neo magnets. I just need to add the right magnets, cut & drill a couple of tooth brushes to attach to it.

My saw works great. it's all in set up I guess.

I got lucky with my saw as it was in original condition from the original owner. He used it at home for small cuts and took good care of it for over 40 + years.

that looks pretty good, you must have a mill?
I don't wish I did. I have to do things with a bandsaw, and a lathe a lot, hack saws and files, sanders, drill press, etc.
I would like to come across a stout bench top unit (mill) at the right price some day.
I don't know, I have not heard back from that guy yet, maybe he is working.

I have read some threads where guys say you really don't need a drop cylinder.
And they are controlling the drop rate with moveable weights and counterweights,
And some guys have made there own out of air cylinders and screen door closers.
But it involves adding valves and adding oil, I don't want to get in to all of that.
I might see how it works without it.
I'd bet even a rubber bungee cord stretched from above, with the right tension would control the feed.
Sort of cold right now, though, so the shop is not very inviting .
I might mess around with it in the laundry area, as it has a heater and a door to close it off.
Had to for when it gets cold, this Micky mouse rental garage apartment I live in, the pipes will free up,
and the washer water pump will freeze up if it gets below a certain temperature.
Landlord don't do Jack around here, unless something is real bad.
I end up fixing most everything, just bill him for parts.
He should have 50 tenants like me.
I got my arbor press back there, and will but the bandsaw back there, I have to come up with a stand for it.
