Looks like they repaired or tried to repair to the rafter tails. The house is sheetrocked now.
Also I made a mistake I believe about my comment about the sewage basket and pump. My house has a basement with the washer and a wash tube down there. Also plumbing for a bathroom and shower. So I think they were always going to put in a pump and basket but had to move it so it would fit next to the water heater. There would be no other way to get the water to the septic system. Here's the pics.
