Made some sacrificial jaws for my new (to me) Warner & Swasey lathe chuck

Nicely done and thanks for sharing!

At about 1:59 to 2:07 in the video the z-axis feed is almost in sync with the music.
It's like your mill is dancing! ;)

Why doesn't my wife bring things like this home with her? Its always stupid knik knacks or purses or you know, girley stuff.
I guess I shouldn't complain, she's always is happy with whatever stuff I drag home, and the places I go to don't have anything that I think she would want for herself. She likes an occasional measuring tape or screwdriver, but thats about it.
Now that I mentioned this, thanks to your wife bringing you gifts, I remembered that next week is our wedding anniversary.
Now should I get her that belt grinder that the shop really needs or .....???
(its number 51 in case you are counting)
PS thank your wife for me.

Chuck the grumpy old guy

Yep, its good to listen to what your wife wants. My wife once told me she would like a chain, guess she was thinking a gold one for her necklace. I went one better and got her one from Husqvarna, 5hp chain saw. I think she loved it...never did say taxactly but I'm sure she did.:angry no:

Finished sealing the floor and started moving some of the smaller machines into the new shop. But all this snow has put a stop to moving the bigger stuff. Here is a pic. Buy the way anyone know where I can get one way window tint.

Thinking I read somewhere that window film is bad news for thermal pane windows, might want to do some research.

I've been asked if I could make a particular Tool. The Aluminum piece in the picture is a Dethermalizer Spring winder. (Don't Ask) It helps you wind tiny (1/8 diameter, .009 wire) springs. The hardest part I can see is the brass thumb screw. I had to check to see if I could make them. The two in the picture are 6 - 32, the sample, in the winder is 4 - 40. I can make that one too, I just happen to have a die for that. Surprised myself chasing the threads.

Gotta get a better knurling tool, though.

I spent almost the whole day Saturday making up some footpegs to replace the rubber covered originals on my Yamaha XS650 desert sled project bike. I used 2 strips of 1" by 1/4" hot rolled steel and milled notches spaced 1/2" on center, .180" deep, then milled that edge flat.

I used the cheap Princess Auto metal bender to form the 180 degree bends with a 1" diameter die.

I TIG welded the end caps on.

I machined some adapters to fit the Yamaha brackets and welded those to the end caps. The profile of the adapters allow the pegs to fold to 45 degrees. They are about 1/2" longer than the stock pegs.
