yeah.. that's my inclination, he's a flipper..I’d pass too finding out he’s just turning stuff. If it’s an actual established equipment dealer that has been around a while that’s different in my mind. But not some guy looking to make a buck.
Ain’t that the truth. This realization haunts me as it’s happened all to often. But one thing this forum has taught me is those millions of used machines are not distributed evenly. Some places you can’t kick a tree without a lathe falling out. Others they are rare as hen’s teeth. But I agree, patience is a virtue and getting in a hurry and settling often leads to buyers remorse.Inevitably, the moment you got this one home, you'll be offered something better for less.
Mrwhoppie posted one in bay area, 3 hp with DRO for 1000.00, motor hums...likely someone trying 3 ph motor on 1 ph power or bad motor, a steel either way.they are trying to get 1970.00 for it right now

Round ram over 1000 is a bit steep unless lots of tooling and in a dry area.

Great advice. In any case you'll be better off buying a well cared for machine from a hobbyist even if it costs a bit more.
