What Projects are you working on?

Well Paul, I am currently going thru a Gorton 9J mill I bought a couple of weeks ago. The paint was peeling really badly and some of the gears in the gearbox were stripped. I have removed the knee motor and gearbox and have removed the offending gear cluster. I am scraping the old paint off and getting a new gear cluster. Slow work, to be sure.

Do tell us a bit about that project your building. Looks like you have many hrs into it. Appears to be a CNC unit by looking. Interested in hearing more about it.

8ntsane,

Its a cnc plasma/router.. I'm designing it myself as I go.... The aluminum extrusion frame and gantry beam is 80x40 and 40x40 extrusion that was donated by a friend..

It has a 50x36 cut area.. I'm using a cheap 4 axis tb6560 driver board and 24volt 14.6amp power supply,It will start off with a 4:1 belt reduction with 425oz steppers with one axis slaved.. It will use rack and pinion gears for the drive system.. I hope the tb6560 will work good enough to get it functioning, but I plan on upgrading to better drivers at a later date...

I'm in no hurry... I have far more time in designing, than I do actually building it.. The kicker is I have spent right at $800 on it so far..

some gun work

Not really a project, but I did have to turn the shoulder on a replacement barrel for an M1A to get it to index correctly. I just recently picked up the 10L SB, so needless to say it sure made the job easy!

Unfortunately, I didn't take pics - was too involved in getting it finished and never thought about it. Next time.

Here is somthing Im working on.
As posted in dividing in the lathe, Im currently working on the base to clamp the spring loaded handle to the lathe way. It needs to be mounted as shown in the pic.
More pics to come when I get finished the base mount ;)

Just trying to clean up my Rusnoks. No pictures, I need to rectify that, but I have one torn completely down for a good cleaning and debating on whether I should paint it or not. Probably will.
