Hello everyone, I hope everyone is well. I just have a couple quick questions as to which kind of steel would be better suited for the two parts primarily. They seem to be the most worn of all the prices. These are part for a Walker Ceramax 6 x 18 magnetic chuck. The chuck still works however these parts are sloppy loose and need replacing. I did contact walker to no avail. Was too much trouble to pursue. Figured I could just make a project out of this and maybe upgrade these parts while in the process. Gonna need something pretty wear resistant no doubt. Thanks in advance

I think case hardened low carbon steel would serve well. The heat treatment may not be necessary... Let's see what the others have to say

Judging by the wear in the first picture, I would use 4140 and flame harden. Are you planning to replace the cast "pan" in the second pic?

No sir, just the small parts and the handle

I was kind of thinking along the lines of 4140 as well. Something with good wear resistance but still machinable and can be hardened. I have a heat treat oven as well
