What Did You Buy Today?

Looks like you should be able to tip the front of the drawer up so the back clears the tab; there should be a slot in the top of the slide mechanism that will allow the drawer to tilt when things are lined up. Alternatively, bend the tab up and then bend back down when the drawer is back in.

Having to bend something isn't unusual: Craftsman drawers have a tab behind the side rail that you have to bend in to get the drawer out; then you bend it back in so it will stop after you re-install the drawer:

I didn't have to bend anything. just lifted the spring steel and they pulled out. was hard to see what was in there with all the damn white grease. :chunky:

funny, 90% of these bits are made by CLE-Forge, the CTO Co., Cleveland USA. all kinds of different bits, morse taper, smith and deming type, regular bits, all by CLE-Forge. the guy must have had an account with them or something. only about 10 asian bits in that whole lot. got them in degreaser overnight, then into the homemade Evaporust for the ones that need it.

So I have and use Super Lube.

It was recommended by Ilion to use it on the spindle of my SouthBend lathe for backgear use. I tried it and the lathe seized up from heat. When it cooled, it was able to move again. I stopped using it for that. I had to pull apart my spindle again and clean out the super lube. I used teflon (ptfe) for the spindle, but went back to oil on top of that. Oil gets distributed while super lube does not.

Super Lube one of the forever chemicals (ptfe a pfas). It's toxic (additive) over time. It's been pushed as safe for USDA, food prep machines, only to recently been found to be highly toxic over time. The company kept burying what they new about it. The bastards made plenty of money, and kept telling the people who were investigating that they made mistakes. Their own people. But all along they knew, because early testing showed the same results. But it was making huge money, and the execs were getting rich over it.

Do not use super lube anywhere in contact with your water supply. You don't want to add more toxicity. Of course many companies are still using it. It's now banned in Europe for food and there's a push to eliminate it completely, but here where the dollar talks, we are still using it heavily.
I use PTFE, but now, only in non food contact.

Super Lube and other ptfe grease are heavily used for o rings for sealant (non moving)..

bought this for parts for the price the power drawer bar and the easy change tool holder was worth it but also took the spindle all the centroid cnc parts and ballscrews....rest got scrapped as I'm out of room for another mill.

LMS recommends White Lithium as a grease for their machines, but the Lucas I have used in the past separates over time and becomes useless (in addition to being a mess as noted by @yota). I tried Super Lube based on recommendations fro Sherline & SMW. I use the grease on gears and the oil on relatively slow moving shafts (like the leads-screw).

Forever chemicals (not unlike naturally occurring lead in vegetables) are everywhere and we do need to be aware of them. Also, while FDE & USDA approve lubricants for “incidental” contact with food/meat, that doesn’t mean you can eat quantities of it. In the ways I use lubricants, I’m not concerned; I am mire concerned with aerosolized coolant/cutting fluids.

The ultrasonic cleaner showed up today which means I'll be busy this afternoon . Not using it , but searching for 2 square feet of flat empty space where I can put it . So what should I go with the liquid ? Water and use ziplocks with cleaner ? I have every kind of cleaners ever made so looking for guidance here .

Yes. water in the tank and the parts in a container (bag or jar or???). I've been using the degreaser from Harbor Freight quite a bit. Works well. Will remove paint after extensive soak (overnight+). The HF degreaser doesn't seem to get rancid like some others. I used a gallon of "Purple Power" which cleaned well but got stinky/rancid and lost power too quickly for my liking. Oil Eater works well. I'm probably going to stay with the HF degreaser.
