What Did You Buy Today?

it's not just the supervisor, it's been widely reported, and in some stores no longer available. it was on clearance in most markets. Right now it's only the 26"
It may not be a good selling size? Thanks for the heads up, I'll think about grabbing one while I can.

That's a shame if they're taking away that line. I have a 26" top/bottom, a 44" top/bottom with a 14" side box, and three of their 5-drawer tool carts; I really like them. I'm comparing them to a Kennedy top/bottom, Waterloo bottom, Sears top/bottom, and a couple of Menards Performax top/bottoms. The US General is the best of those hands down. Next thing you know they'll stop offering 20% discount coupons. . . .

I thought HF was discounting the series 2 boxes to make room for the series 3 stuff? Still the same boxes but with upgrades.

I'm not sure how it happened, but a G&E 20-24" Industrial Universal shaper followed me home today. It's got about five coats of paint on it, a thick layer of preservative like Cosmoline on the bare metal surfaces and then random oil/dirt/grit everywhere else. It sat outside covered with a tarp for some time...not sure how long. Pretty much everything was stuck when I got it home...sprayed penetrating oil everywhere and started tapping with a wooden block and got things moving. The grease in the motor bearings was like glue, but after pumping some fresh grease into them and barely getting it to move by hand I pumped in some more and finally got it turning then pumped in some more. At that point I said what the heck, put power to it and it ran. I didn't want to start spending money and putting time into it before I knew it would run. This is going to be one heck of a cleanup job! Serial number is 2110A6 which puts it at the tail end of 1940 if the reference page I found is correct.

I paid roughly scrap price for it....I figure I bought a vise and a shaper was attached to it.

It's got some surface rust inside that needs to be addressed so I'm going to drain the sump and then try something like a kerosene bath with some brush scrubbing, pump that out and repeat a couple of times. If anybody has an idea for a kerosene pressure washer I'm all ears

man, I'd starting checking my 6 more often if I had shapers following me home. All I get is stray cats.

For a kerosene spray, one of those hand pumped weed sprayers will probably work long enough for you to get it clean.

I bought another 4-500lb of machine tools and random azz stuff on Friday, spent the weekend going through it :)

I flushed out my collection of lifting eyebolts. Too many times I've had to "make due" with some compromise when I didn't have these on hand. That's not ideal when moving heavy equipment. I now have a full set of two in every size from 1/4" to 3/4". Of course I could add different lengths of threads, but in most cases that's not critical.
