Well just bought a Sheldon TRB-S56

First read the brief usage instructions in the sticky area of this and a few other Fora. Then to access it, simply click on Downloads in the main toolbar above. I can't recall whether there is anything there on the B-6 or not. One additional comment on using it that I may not have emphasized in the instructions - unfortunately the Xenforo Resources module that we adapted and turned into Downloads has no file sort capability whatsoever. So files appear in reverse order of their add date. Not the most convenient situation by any means. You will just have to scroll down the listing reading the titles.

I found it. It wasn't listed as a B-6. It's just listed as Sheldon Sebastian lathes 13" to 15". But after downloading it I can see it's the correct model that I was looking for.
 
OK. Should I update the title? Is that the only model that the file covers? Keep in mind that I have no familiarty with what's important with Sheldon manuals.

The title is probably good. I imagine it covers a lot of different model numbers. I'm not an expert on Sheldon lathes. I just happen to be interested in them. I was having a hard time trying to find the exact model I'm looking at. Everything I found was dramatically different. But the manual you had in your downloads just happens to be exactly the one I'm looking at. I don't even own this lathe yet, and may not even get it. But I wanted to look over the exploded views in the manual first so I could see how it's built. That way I'll know better what I'm getting into.

Just for the record. The Sebasitian model I'm looking at appears to be easy to work on and repair based on the exploded views in the manual. So this helped a lot. Plus if I do end up buying this lathe I'll now have the manual for it. So this is good. I didn't even know that downloads section was there. Thanks to this thread it was brought to my attention by Byrdman. His Sheldon lathe is quite different though. I didn't see the manual for his lathe. It could be there, I just didn't see it in a quick search for Sheldon Lathes.
 
OK. We have very little on Sheldon lathes. Several years ago, I bought a CD off of eBay that had several hundred mostly machine tool manuals. The only Sheldon manual was on a 5C collet closer!
 
The lathe I was looking at it sold today. So I missed out on it. Although to be honest it wasn't in the greatest shape, so no problem there. I still enjoy learning about the different lathes. I did like the model I was looking at so if I run across one like it again at some point I'll be that much more prepared to know what I'm dealing with. I really liked the design. It's a nice lathe. I like the one Byrdman just bought too. In fact, the one he got is in far better condition. Different model, but far better condition. I'm jealous. :grin:

I'll find a good lathe eventually. I'm in no hurry.

But yeah, Byrdman, you got a good deal there. At least IMHO. Congrats on that find!
 
There's a army manual for 10"Shelton's that I have goggled several times.lots of info will cross over to op Sheldon

Here is a picture of it in the bed of the truck, I left the Raleigh area at about 1:30am (went to bed at 10pm woke up at 12:12am couldn't go back to sleep so said screw it) got home at 9pm. But it is here. Truck is nasty.

You did everything I told you not to do. :grin:

You left the big heavy chuck on it. And you put it on the truck backwards with all the weight to the rear of the truck.

Fortunately it's no big deal, and my advice was overkill. It actually looks smaller on the truck than I thought it was. That's only a 6 foot bed too huh?

That's actually a very nice size lathe for hobby work. The one I was looking at was probably twice that size.

Anyway, glad to see you were able to get it on the truck in one piece and not have to take it apart. That's great.

Funny, now that I realize it's smaller than I had originally thought I actually like it even better. :grin:
