Water Heater Problem

A tip: if it's a 10 year water heater, WRITE the date+10 years on it with "replace at:". You will never regret pulling it out the week before it pukes !

My water heater kept having the pilot light go out. I'd relight it, hear it kick on to the main burner shortly thereafter. I'd go inside, thinking it was fine. Only to have it be off with no pilot. I eventually stayed out and watched the thing for longer. There was an internal leak that opened up as the flame got hotter and would leak water onto and put out the flame.

On the replacement, the Honeywell gas valve failed at something like 18 months. Rheem shipped a replacement under warranty.
