VFD question

AFAIK the star has the winding pairs in series which would be the higher of the two voltage possibilities. Delta puts them in parallel so lower voltage.
We didn't know if this motor could be wired either way, but apparently it can, but doesn't say so on the dataplate
Waiting to see how it shakes out...

The technician came today and changed the wiring, the lathe now works as advertised. It makes full power, and full RPM.
He lowered the Hz setting slightly in the VFD so the spindle speeds are now accurate, and also replaced an oil sight glass. Needless to say I'm much happier. I finally was able to make chips, and started my first attempt at making something - a tap holder - made from some cheap bolts. I also tried my hand at single point threading, and while not perfect, I was happy.

Thanks for all the advice that people gave, it was a big help in confirming that I was going in the right direction.

That's terrific news. You are most fortunate that you have a local "dealership" to have helped. In my mind, that would justify any excess in the original purchase price.

Good to see you making chips.

I have to finish my DRO install. Might have to mill the draft from the casting on the back edge of my saddle. It's tilting the read head from vertical a bit too much. Always tinkering with things.
