Food grows where water flows. It takes a lot of water to grow things. The positive thing is that growing plants make oxygen and take out carbon from the air. The frustrating thing is the amount of water that just flows back to the ocean with no benefit to the habitat or to mankind just because there is no way to store it. We take a lot of things for granted. I used to dry land farm wheat. We would fallow the land for a year to allow the moisture to build up in the soil to produce a crop next year. It would produce about half a ton of wheat every other year. Where we can irrigate the ground will produce two tons an acre every year with the same inputs. The dry land farm ground is now all homes. We need to remember that all water nature recycles. We do need to be responsible in how we treat our natural resources.
