Found this at a yard sale. Is it an air dimple tool?? It works when air is applied, and valve turns air on and off. Length is 9"

Wow, that's very cool! It's got a real medical or surgical look about it. Can't think of medical reason for dimpling something, but as a raising or planishing tool for silversmithing hollow ware maybe? Interesting find, I'll be interested if someone knows what it is for sure.

I have one also---it is used for peen sealing a fine crack in cast iron or cast aluminum. you work both sides along the crack to seal it up by bumping it to get the small hammer to give a woodpecker ratty-tat motion.

after looking at your pictures again, It looks like it is missing the small peen hammer piece inside. you don't show a picture of the small end so it is hard to know if it is inside the hollow end. when you turn on the air valve with air pressure on, the small peen piece will be sticking out some. I will try to locate mine and show some pictures.

The small piece that does the work is there. It floats freely until the air is turned on. I have used it and it works. Thank you all for your help. Neet little tool that I need to find a use for.
