Tool sharpening

I've been drooling over that HF machine for years. I've watched several videos and followed lots of threads on tuning and improving them, and think I'm going to pull the trigger. I tried googling for HF coupons with no joy. I used the last one I had the day I saw irt on clearance. A friend even e-mailed a printable one but it expired yesterday... There were three (plus the display model) the first time I saw them on clearance, Friday they were down to one. Should I, shouldn't,:think1::nono::holdphone::thinking: I should I...
Problem is, I'd need 2 aluminum oxide wheels to replace the crappy green ones, another $40-$50 ....

What grits do you recommend?

Again, they're not on clearance, just on sale.
I didn't find buying one a hard decision, I just thought of it as an unfinished Baldor kit at a 90% saving.
The 20% coupons are everywhere, just buy a magazine. This one expires Dec. 1 and is in the current Power and Motor Yacht of all things, but they're in all the car mags.

I do intend to save the green wheels for carbide. I have a few carbide tipped tools (braised type) I inherited from my Dad that I need to work over.
Thanks Scrapmetal, for the online link to the 20% cupon. I will go tomorrow and see if the last boxed one is still there. Wish me luck.
A long while back, someone posted a series of videos on a tuneup for this HF Tool Grinder. Anyone have the link? I seem to have lost it.

I watched that series today, Tony. The one I'm talking about was from before that. Different guy. Pretty much the same info, but I liked it better. I also watched one by the guy with the beaded chin wiskers where he did pretty much the same thing, but I didn't save a shortcut to either one, damick!

Here's the link to the one you're referring to: http://www.youtube.com/embed/9xRy8wGfcIk

I preferred the first one, the guy was a lot more positive.

Well, not having one of those grinders, I didn't know there were more than one guy working the modifications.

No reason you should.:))

However, that fellow has almost 100 videos on YouTube featuring some really interesting machining work; it's well worth a look.

Well, the staff at my store, and the sign on them does say Clearance @ $159.00. I asked the checkout girl if that meant they were being discontinued, and she said no, but probably meant the price was going up...

If the sign is still there tomorrow, I'll take a picture...
