1 cup rice + 3 cups water = gruel, not rice, was my point. Yes, one needs to adjust a bit for the type of rice. But for the most part a lot of people can't make rice to save their lives. 1:2 is generally serviceable and nearly foolproof. Hey, it works for me. Carry on...But then you have to call out what type of rice you are using. Medium grain size white rice is one part rice and one part water (1-1/2 if you want it a bit sticky) ... tablespoon of oil (I use olive oil or corn oil), and salt to preference...
