I would hope that this is a vent pipe for a gas furnace. Intake, that is.

Yes. Actually, when I looked at the photo again, there is ductwork in the back. Our vent pipes are glued but I can see using screws on the intake as it can be taken apart to clean the birds and bees nests out. (I made screened covers for ours to keep them out)
