When I worked for Hewlett-Packard, a major part of my job was designing and building assembly line equipment. Because of this experience I've remained fascinated by industrial processes.
One somewhat obscure fact about the very popular"Tickle me, Elmo" doll is that the last assembly line station before packaging for shipment had to do with quality control and product inspection. Just before leaving the assembly line, each and every Elmo was given a couple of test tickles.
