I did a search for standards and did not find any either.
I can just imagine turning a M16 tap with that under cut shank! I use the Lisle set, they just work and that is all I need.

Now that you mention it, I had a set of their tap extensions. I guess one of my former employees has them now.

By far and away the best tap wrench I've ever owned. It obsoleted many more dollars worth of Starret wrenches.

Bilz/Emudge tap holders are cheap to buy used and made for the job. Or collets. Drill chucks, not so much.
