LOL , starting tomorrow , we'll all have an extra 30 seconds of daylight in the shops . :) Hard to believe as it's the coldest night we've had at 19 degrees . But hey , we're on the upswing now ! :encourage: Personally , I can't wait until I have sweat on my back driving the tractor around .

Short daylight hours of the winter do not bother me. Same as Dhal22, I have lights in my shop. I also have heat. Coldest AM so far is 5 degrees

I am fortunate to have electric lighting and heat in my shop. However, I do appreciate rays of sunshine beaming in, it adds warmth & cheer to the workspace!

Not applicable this Winter, but in past years many a time I will come up from a few hours in the Shop only to find that I forgot to turn on a light in the Family Room (at the top of the stairs [same stairs I had an argument with - and lost - a few months ago]), and had to feel my way to a light switch in the dark.

Time to add to the list if you haven't already.

Unfortunately for me, I just had knee surgery so my shop time is drastically reduced right now. Worse than no heat or no light! OK, so maybe not worse than no light. If you guys could save some pictures of your machining mistakes to hold me over until I get back in my shop it would be a nice Christmas gesture.

Already have dual switches at the top & bottom of stairs, but these control the office lighting where the stairs are (also have switches by both entrances into the Shop).

Unfortunately, the Family Room lighting is all via receptacles (not my doing) and all wiring within walls so would be a major undertaking to rewire so the top "outlets" are switched. When we win the lottery and find somewhere to build where it's:
  • Not too hot or cold
  • No hurricanes, earthquakes, flooding or snow
  • Nearby some relations (and far away from others: the list keeps changing)
  • Close to necessities
  • Low taxes
Need I go on?

Where is that place? I'll move there too!

I used to think Memphis: seems like when it does snow it's gone by Noon (like Savannah). But they do have flooding, and while it meets the far away criteria, it fails the nearby one.
