Sharp Milling Machine lead screw adjustment tool-

You need what is called by those in the know a "Bridgeport screwdriver".

I bought a phillips/flat set with 20" shafts by Gearwrench on Amazon for thirty bucks or so. Don't bother with janky extensions, you want good control and an easy time while working the adjustment. This is how it was meant to be done per the manual.
 
Ahh, reading too fast. You said "not like BP" and you are right! It's not!

Have you ever seen an oxygen sensor socket that is made to approach the sensor from the side, rather than from the top? That's what you need, with that 4-spline pattern. Like a crow's foot. Should be a quickie to whip up on the mill.
