I like having books to reference while I am designing things, but I prefer to print out the pages I need in the shop so that I don’t care if they get dirty. I bought Machinery’s Handbook many years ago on CD and have printed out a binder full of pages I keep in the shop and will probably do the same thing with the pdf file of this handbook.

I have a similar process: when I find usefull info/tables I print them out (after saving as PDFs) and laminate them for quick reference in the Shop.
