I have a simple switch, a Single Throw (off/on) Double Pole toggle switch.
One end with terminals is marked L
One end with terminals is marked X

When the toggle is in the ON position the toggle itself is towards the end with the "L"

Is my interpretation that the "L" stands for LINE and the "X" stands for LOAD?

Thanks

That's probably what was intended, only to ensure the switch doesn't get wired so as to short the two power lines together
The switch wouldn't care if line and load pairs were swapped- would still work the same
