POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

whenever molding you need to consider the draft to remove the part. Also you never mold over a rough part. You need to sand it and finish it with a smooth finish, leaving a rough finish is giving tooth so it won't come off. you have 2 straight sections with no draft... Soaping water would have been the last thing I would have done. Water expands the wood making it worse. I would have drilled the center with a large drill , if that didn't help, then tried to cut two split lines 180 degrees apart, or 4 if you couldn't release it. That should have helped.

I have never seen the melting bag technique. Do you use a heat gun? What it is the process?

Focus has been on getting the house in Orlando ready to sell it... but managed to get some work done in the ever-shrinking workshop. Almost done with installing the insulation on the walls.

Only the east wing of “machinist candyland” is near completion. I believe you still have three more directions to stand buildings on before you covert your beautiful home into the central office / precision grinding center. Might be time to buy out your neighbors tho.

It’s looking really good! I am preparing my house for sale as well. I can relate to how busy you are.

Went to cut a piece of angle iron and for the 1367th time was annoyed by the vise jaws moving sideways and rising up. So went ahead and pulled it off the saw and found the issue was that the guide for the ways was missing. Made up a new one and drilled it for locating pins to keep it from binding, and did a little work on the ways to insure free travel for the length of the jaw openings. Always amazes me how long I can put up with something before I break down and fix it, and how satisfying it is when I finally do. Mike

Yup Mike, been there, done that more times than I care to admit. Nice job on the fix.
