That seems like a "band-aid" approach. Not to discount your creativity, but I would be concerned that any movement at all of the mill base would instantly take it out of tram. Again, not knocking it and if it works for you then that is all that is needed.Dan Thompson, the attached photos show what I did to deal with Y axis tram issues on my mill. You may be surprised by how little force is necessary on the adjustment to impact Y-tram.
