OT Ever Been Ignored by An eBay Vendor?

Yesterday I was looking for some fittings to finish plumbing in the new gas tank on my end loader. I found what I needed on eBay and made an offer. It's been more than 24 hours and I've yet to get a response. I'm a bit surprised because when I went to make the purchase the "Make Offer" button showed the range of prices the item had been sold for in the past. I selected one of the prices and sent off the offer.

In the past I've rarely had to wait more than an hour or so before the offer was either accepted or countered. Usually if the seller is either unavailable or out of town, I get a message as to when they will be available before the offer is actually submitted. Then I can decide whether to continue or to find a different vendor.
Has anyone else had a similar experience where the vendor hasn't responded? If there is no response, I'm assuming the offer is rejected and I'll have to look elsewhere for the parts. I'd like to keep things rolling so the project can be completed within the next few days. However, I don't want to get in a hurry and end up with double the number of parts I need.

I have listed things on the bay and completely forgotten about them . I did take them all off as the prices offered were no where close to the asking price . I guess another reason is people travel more in the summer and can't ship things if they're out of town . It sounds like this guy is a business though so can't explain why he would ignore any buyer . :dunno:

Yep, I've been ignored, usually means they are not accepting the offer or thinking about it.

I never will buy from gigigirl11 because they don't answer questions and when I said why won't you answer they came back with a nasty response. The guy has many dissatisfied customers and he bans them.

There are some great sellers and some who should be banned from selling, but eBay won't remove them.

Maybe this time it was for the better. I got the "offer expired" notice and went back online looking for another vendor. I found one with 100% good feedback, in the US that was selling the same exact items for the price I offered the first vendor. The order has already been confirmed and should be here by Tuesday.

Many years ago, when gigigirl11 started selling on eBay I tried to do business with them. Like you I got either no answer to the questions I asked or snide remarks insinuating I didn't know what I was talking about. Needless to say, I didn't go back for more abuse. I found other vendors more than happy to answer the questions and take my money. More recently I've found several used equipment dealers that have considerably better prices, and I have the luxury of actually seeing and touching the item to be sure it's in good condition and will meet my needs.

Only 1 other time did I have an unsettling experience with an eBay vendor. At the time I was looking for blades for my power hacksaw. He had several listed and had a "Make Offer" option. I made an offer that was equal to the listed price on the McMaster website. I got a flaming response that the amount offered was an insult. I replied with a link to the price for the item on the McMaster site. His reply was that it had to be a typo and I was trying to rip him off.

I watched his listing for a couple months to see if anyone would purchase them. I quit watching after he raised the price a couple times. The asking price at the time I quit watching was nearly double what McMaster was selling them for. The best part was that when I mentioned my experience on another board one of the members offered me 50 blades for a price I couldn't refuse. I now have all I should ever need in tooth configurations from 3tpi to 14 tpi.

Soooo, would you be interested in selling any of those blades?

Yeah that gigigirl11 is a crook. I have bid on a few things that I lost at the last few seconds and within a day or two they were relisted for sale again. I then started watching a little closer and he does it quite often.

I have been ignored on ebay, and I sell about $5k per month there. You would think with my being on ebay since 1999 that sellers would see that I'm pretty serious, but that's not the case all the time.

Now I must admit I don't completely answer all the questions I get every single day. I get questions that are clearly listed in my ad, so I tell them to READ the listing and your question will be answered. Maybe that's rude, but when the question you ask is answered in the first sentence of the listing and you don't even bother to read the listing completely I have no patience for you.

Sorry not at this time. The saw is used regularly, and blades are getting harder to find. You might want to make a post over on the Practical Machinist site in the Antique Machinery and History forum. There are a number of members who either had or still have power hacksaws in commercial shops. Another place to look is eBay. They're often overpriced there, but occasionally a company that buys obsolete and overstock items lists them for reasonable prices. If you do a search and save it, you'll get a notification when a new listing is made.

My luck with disposing of "surplus" items is uncanny. I've had a chipper shredder since the 1980's and it's gotten minimal use. It was originally purchased because our local municipality wouldn't pick up any brush or yard waste. We had to dispose of it on our own. Since there wasn't a local landfill or recycling center you had to either have a contractor dispose of it or grind it up yourself. I finally found a new home for it a few weeks ago only to have one tree come down and 4 others needing removal after a storm. We did get a contractor to do the job, but in this case, it would have been faster, easier, and less expensive to have done the job myself.

To top things off I finally cleaned out the garage and let go of a generator I've had since the 1970's. It wasn't 24 hours later, and we lost power for the first time in 30+ years. It would have been nice to start it up and run the AC and fridge, but it was already performing those duties at a friend's place.

It seems that every time I dispose of something that might be considered surplus it becomes a necessity shortly after it's gone.

So this Gigi guy bids on his own stuff? Isn't that against the rules?
