Opinions on a Lagun FTV-2S

Perhaps. What do you know about the accessories it comes with? Kurt Vises are solid. What brand collets, and how many and sizes? Same with the boring head- Criterion - and will it come with boring bars and end mills? What size drill chuck and make? Quality brands in good condition could make $3,500 tolerable, but if it's cheap China stuff, not so much IMO. I've heard Lagun's variable speed mechanism is more stout than the typical Reeves drive found on other units, but that could just be talk. It's a nice machine!

The guy won't budge on the price. If $3500 is not a deal, is it a fair price?
It's not a deal, but not a ripoff. I'd say it's a bit high, but I'm not familiar with that exact model. I listed a bunch of stuff in my first reply - does it check most of those boxes?

That's all pretty important stuff to me, and would push up the value.
For example, by dad bought a mill and it's impossible to tram. The head will tilt side to side, but won't "nod" front to back. It's slightly out from the factory, and that's just the way it is (it could be shimmed I assume). It has belts that are a pain to change, so it's frequently at the wrong speed, and there's only 5 possibilities with no back gear (low range). There's no power feed on the quill, so using a boring head is more difficult, and you need to raise the knee to use. it.

You said it includes 6" kurt, some collets, drill chuck, boring head and a package assortment of clamping accessories. Auto feed for x from the manufacturer and an older, but working, DRO.

That's not much to get started with. Hopefully "some collets" is at least 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 & 3/4 from a quality name brand. Is the drill chuck a good one, and mounted on an R8 spindle (or at least 1/2" straight shank)?

All that said, if you want a good quality mill and have the cash, this would be a good one.

Well I got it. Seller wouldn't come down off the price but he did throw it a few rotary indexer. One of them is a Hardinge. Also gave me a bunch of stock and a troyke 12" rotary table. Here's some pics for you addics. I still have to organize the shop, put it in place and wire the rotary phase in. So it will be a bit before I'm making chips.

That looks like a very clean machine; you did well, and I doubt you'll regret that purchase!

That's a nice haul! She will serve you very well. Congratulations!

Nice! A 12" rotary is HUGE; I hope you can actually lift it onto the table.

That's a great machine, and unless it's really beat up you did just fine. And it looks like it isn't beat up; Id say it looks super clean.

Congrats!
