Hard pass on that Monarch...

Sorry, but by the time you spend the time and money to retrofit that lathe with conventional controls... if it can even be done, you could have bought a pretty nice new lathe.

If you buy it you should have 'a plan' to move it, with, If I am reading the data plate correctly- a weight of almost 12000 lb.
That is as much as most mid sized industrial Tractor Loader Backhoes's weigh...

The real problem is that the lathe doesn't have wheels or and engine to move itself.

@Unix That Monarch Tracer lathe would be a hard pass. G-man Bart spelled it out.
