Oil Blackening 12L14

Haven't tried it on 12L14, but rust (cold) bluing 1018 with peroxide, salt and boiling water is pretty easy. Made a post on it. I blued the tee-nuts for my rotary table. Had I done a better job on carding, they probably would have looked nicer, but they are fine for my intended use. If you want the bluing to look nicer, then you have to put more work into it, like most things. Didn't take very long to do, maybe an hour at most. Next time would take half that time, since I wouldn't be as hesitant as I was the first time I tried bluing.
Can You expound upon the blueing process? I'm going to need to blue 9 cyls for a radial.

Gives the basic details. I used 12% hydrogen peroxide and table salt and water. I put the tee nuts into the solution, let them sit until the bubbling stops or slows down a lot. Remove, rinse in water, and immerse in boiling water for the right amount of time. Pull out of boiling water, card as necessary, then back into the peroxide solution. If no bubbling occurs, either you have very good coverage, or the solution is spent. If spent, mix up some more. Repeat as necessary, until you get the color and fullness needed.
