Not leather.

You can find a number of hand tooled leather belts on Etsy.

Or if, like me in the UK, a craft fair leather worker.

My (late) step father purchased a proper leather belt 30 years ago from a lether worker at a craft fair, wore it every day up until 2011, when he gave it to me. Have worn it every day since then. and other than giving it a treatment of neatsfoot oil every once in a while to keep it supple, it is still as good as the day it was made.

Might also explain why I use boot-polish on tyres. keeps them siupple, stops them cracking, they are easier to clean and nicer to look at than that silicone based "tyre shine in a can"..

Same goes for baseball gloves which I plan on donating to the expectant son and DIL next year . :encourage:

I gave up on leather belts. I sew my own from nylon webbing with Fastex buckles salvaged from old backpacking equipment.

When I was in Buenos Aires earlier this year I made a point of buying a new belt and wallet. Wife got sheepskin slippers that she loves.

The real stuff is out there, just have to look a little harder these days.

Look for gun belts - there are all kinds of quality leather belts out there.

I had an (repro) old civil war belt and buckle. I wore out the belt after 40 years. Found a place to buy a replacement leather belt. Nice and sturdy. Real leather, not paper. Could hang a pair of dragoon pistols on it. Me, I'd be dragged down by the weight, but the belt would be fine!

Google "Hanks belts " . Seems like they're the real thing .
I had one of those fake leather belts disintegrate so I decided to get a real leather one, it’s a Hanks and my older brother has picked me up by it with no damage to the belt.

Magpul has belts on sale right now.

I would tell you about the $5 t-shirt deal they have, but unless your a child or a ham planet everything is sold out.

A ham planet?! I’m gonna try to remember that! Lol

I hear they’ve got fancy vegan leather these days. I always thought the old leather was vegan made, or at least grass fed, to begin with.
