I've just about completed an upgrade on a very nice surface grinder I bought a few months ago. Very nice machine. That's the good news. The 'not-so good news' is I'd like to get a new disk for finishing work but have no idea how to select and/or evaluate a disk. It currently has a white disk on it that seems to be working fine but leaving a slight visible pattern. Is this normal? I got some improvement by dressing the wheel, but I'd like to get a new wheel for comparison purposes or, at the very least, for a backup.
Based on some very limited research, it seems what will suit my purposes best is another white wheel, but I'm completely lost on how to evaluate all the codes. For example, Travers Tool has this one posted on ebay:
Radiac A102954 6"x 1/2"x 1-1/4" WA60-J8-V8 White Alum Oxide Surf. Grinding Wheel.
The size - 6"x1/2"x1-1/4" - is correct for my machine. And it's White. But I have no idea how to evaluate the 'WA60-J8-V8' code. I also 'think' the WA indicates general use; the J indicates 'soft' for hardness level. Is this correct? I have no idea what the V designation is.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Terry
