I've been to Alaska, Iceland, Maine.. I had hoped to see the Northern Lights, and each time was a bust. Just no solar activity while I was in those locations.
Well, it's been active for a while now, but the skies have been clouded over, or it was not visible in my area.
Not tonight. My first view. Slightly visible by naked eye, but the camera catches it much better. Pink not green. But I'm happy.

Very Nice!

I caught them for the first time here at my home a couple nights ago. I got a few photos but my camera was not in focus, still cool. I'm taking my camera out now while it is still light on the West Coast and get it setup and in focus.

I got pics and videos of them down here also Jeff . Pretty wild looking sky . :encourage: Talked to my son out in Calgary . They're in for a great show tonight also .

One of my friends said she heard the best time to view them is going to about 11-1 tonight. I hope so since it seems I missed the best part from this evening's show.

The Sun is very near solar maximum, which has been why we have more active Aurora over the last year or so and may continue into 2025 and may extend into 2026.

This is from earlier this summer. It was ALL NIGHT,

Even a near sunrise, they were still visible!

it was very short lived around here. Just after dusk, and not for long. We were driving back home, and looked out west from the mountain, across to the valley and it was really pink out west, but I thought it was the sunset. My wife thought it was Northern Lights, but I thought no, it's west. But at home we were looking, and it was barely visible out north slightly pink, until you took your camera out....
But it did not last long. Glad I didn't go get my tripod, I might have missed the best of it.

It was NNE from here . Lasted maybe 30 minutes but was quite a show . I don't think I've ever seen them this south before .

Going out to take the dog for a final. I'll check it out. I failed to clear a problem with my sewer line, so having a plumber early. Even with a 50 ft snake, I can't get the thing clear. Not sure wtf is going on. It punches through all the way
