The gear on the end of the idler shaft isn't making full contact with the transposing gear. I would expect this is where the metric change gear(s) are mounted and so are adjustable for size, but I can't find anything, definitely not covered in my from Monarch correct 11 page manual, about the change gears. I thought I would find a hex key socket in the shaft, but there isn't so no idea how they are adjusted. Don't want to be stupid and make things worse. Easier to ask then be wishing I had later . . . TIA for any information

Certainly doesn’t look right but one camera angle is tough. Is this a retrofit change gear, or part of an original factory I/M setup.

Yep, that is all adjustable. Can't see what you got from that pic. I am guessing?? washers are in the wrong postion.

Take better pics and post to the 10EE gurus here:

I managed to not hit [Send]!!! Oh boy, head up arse! See figure 6, End Gear Train. Definitely time for a nap. Sorry all.
Thanks for the advise.
It was a simple matter of adjusting the banjo. This is the Monarch factory set up transposing gear. The manual calls for .003" clearance between the gears, very hard to do with the 37 tooth transposing gear blocking the 27 tooth gear in contact. So I just did it by feel. I'll get some of the long gauges to try to make something that will fit.

With scissors, cut a piece of typing paper 3/8 wide and inches long. Insert this between gears and snug them together, then tighten the mounting assembly.

Rotate the assembly until the paper is gone. Done.

I have a hard time adjusting my side gears, I have to loosen a large nut then tighten in the right spot to set back lash. It keeps moving when i tighten it, finally I attached a jig with a adjusting screw so i can slowly adjust back lash. to tight and growl to loose and klang klang. I covered the inside of the door with sound absorbing pads, and a drip oiler.

KISS, I love it. Thanks!

Thanks for the idea. The Monarch has a wet box, it was the awful unusual noise that terrified me.
