Mitutoyo- Real or Knockoff???

You have a wonderful imagination.
Wait.. which one of us has imagination? After cleaning this up, I am certain this is a newer device; not mid century. I'm very sure this is a recent knockoff...

Sorry. I meant to quote the two from m1kemex. I edited it.

PS: it's a clone

Ah, my mistake. I just quickly looked at the thread and mostly seen mksj's photo (large pictures), thinking it was the same item. It seemed legit. Because it's legit!

But yeah, I agree that the one in OP's picture is a clone.

P. S. My opinion on older Mitutoyos remains. They aren't as great as people thinks nowadays.

If it isn't wobbly, moves smooth, and checks out against calibration standards over the range that you're going to use it, then it's good!

The Clone Wars again!
I may keep it but I may ask for a partial refund. Must ponder this.
It's accuracy is probably sufficient for my surface plate which is a granite sink cutout....
Thanks you guys!

If you paid for a Mitutoyo, you should get a Mitutoyo. Look at comparable height gages from other manufacturers and use their prices to negotiate yours down.
