Mitutoyo Digital 1"-2" Micrometer

Darkzero...None of the suggestions worked to get 1.000, I'm really at a loss with this thing. I can zero it out and it seems to function with HOLD and ABS but holding the ORGIN button does nothing and the P just continues to flash.

When the P is flashing, does the display read 1.0 or 0.0?

Neither. Pressing or Long pressing does nothing. Holding it for like 30 seconds does nothing. It just displays the number that was last recorded. Weird...

That's strange. Sounds like the Origin button is not working or something screwy is happening.

Here's a long shot if you haven't tried already. Remove the battery, when you put it back in the display should show a flashing line all the way across. Set your spindle to 1.0", then press the Origin button to set (assuming that button actually works).

Also check if the battery low. I've seen in a few cases where a low battery caused digital mics & calipers to do weird things although most of the time they work fine until the battery is completely dead.

All my mechanical micrometers larger than 0-1" read zero at the origin...this in itself would not trouble me.

I think I would set the Origin to 1.0" prior to inserting the battery. I don't know if would matter, just an idea.

Wouldn't hurt to but it doesn't matter. When you insert the battery the display will show flashing lines. You can move the spindle where ever, it won't set until the Origin button is pressed. I just said it that way in case he bumped the thimble by accident and doesn't need to take extra care not to.

Rutroh, I just bought one of these used, haven't picked it up yet, but now I have buyers remorse.
