M1049 Compound Rest

I looked at the mounting of the cross slide to the ways and I don't thing the Hardinge unit will work without a lot of new work that I don't have the ability to do yet. I the attached image will work. One more prototype adjusting the size of the base plate and the diameter of the rotating center and I'll order the raw metal. Simple cuts. If the material is sized close I'll only have to turn 4 dimensions and 2 surfaces. Should be a good initial run. My understanding is turning cold rolled steel is a PITA but I'll go slow and cover the ways.

I'll use this little compound for tapers and the main AXA QCTP for everything else. It will lengthen the workflow quite a bit but better that than having the thing sit there for another few months...

Grizzly had the original 4 jaw chuck in stock so that'll be a good use!

Been wandering through member projects forums. Dang, y'all can make some good stuff!
