I'm geeking out on this neat little inside micrometer set. Lufkin 680.

It is missing the tiny 1/4" tall cap that would allow it to measure down to 1.5". As of right now the range is 2"- 8".

The tiny cap is on the left. I'm going to be looking for one of those for the foreseeable future.

It cost me about $13.50.

I've already checked each size against a micrometer up to 6". The different tubes can be combined to get different lengths in half inch increments.

It measures in 0.001" increments. Each tube combination measures within a couple tenths according to my micrometers. I'm incredibly pleased with that.

The rule was a couple bucks. A bit of clean up and it's near perfect.

I had a great day at the flea market!

Great price!
I have that same inside mic set that I picked up at a swap meet 2 yrs ago. I paid way more than you did, $25. Mine appeared to have never been used though. It still had cosmoline on the thimble and it has the little round wooden piece in the loop on the handle. Your set appears to be missing the wrench for tightening and loosening the caps.

I've got the wrench in my ebay watch list. It will cost as much as the entire set.

Nice score. I have that same set as well. It was my Dad's. I've used it many times.

I bought this little Sawyer internal micrometer at the flea market for $3.....

There is no discernable way to calibrate the little sucker.... it's pretty neat though. If you ignore the marks on the barrel and just use it like a snap gauge it might be useful.

Maybe someone will know how to calibrate it.
