Lathe Machining of Delrin

I have a problem. Home machinist for some time. 1st time trying to machine Delrin. Craftsman 12" lathe.

Q) How to keep round Delrin material from working out of the chuck?

No mater how much I tighten the chuck (I have tried with both a 3-jaw & 4-jaw) the piece works its way out of the chuck. Quickly enough that I cannot complete even one machining step. Material is 2" round bar Delrin.
I understand that a live center prevents this when turning. The work I am speaking of is when either facing, or when using a boring bar. Cannot keep the material stable. There must be some way to do this of which I am not aware....... Thanks!
Material has nothing to do with stock working out of chuck.
Set your steady rest about 1 inch out from chuck. Then move steady rest out to end of bar and stock will not work out of chuck.
