Lathe Building Questions

Ray, that is very generous of you, thank you so much for the offer, I'll definitely keep that in mind! I think my first step with this project is to first evaluate the plans, and change the plans as necessary for fasteners, thickening components, and using a different lead screw.
David, I have looked into using the spare parts, that's why I had asked about it's practicality to having them made per plans. My only concern was having to alter the plans so much to accept these parts, although it would probably be nice to have some sort of versitility to accept certain parts. That's really the heart of my questions regarding different morse tapers, not sure what's the most practical situation.
Anyway, thank you again guys! I'm working on changing all the dimensions over to standard from metric, to the nearest 1/1000, then I'll start rounding numbers and changing thicknesses as suggested. I'm probably going to redraw the plans with the new dimensions when I finally get there, so I'll try to publish those and share for suggestions when I get to that point.

Don't get too hung up on getting it "perfect." Once you get one done, you will be in the same boat as the rest of us that go in and do mods to it. Sometimes plans are just general guidelines rather than hard and fast rules. It is a different addiction and some people really get into machine building. I have been watching a Gingerly lathe build on youtube and it is really interesting. His username is Morgan Demers.
Here is another one I think is outstanding:
