Klein ET600 Megohmmeter Display Question

The ET600 actually is an IRT and provides voltage up to 1000V DC for the test....125, 250, 500 and 1000V are all an option.

I spent hours and hours reading reviews and watching YT videos comparing different IRTs and the ET600 kept coming up as the best bang for the buck among IRTs. There are some less expensive options now that are popular, but not from companies with U.S. support like Klein.

I stand corrected! For the price it's a steal if it works.

Yeah, I spent hours reading reviews and watching videos and it seems to be the most popular budget-friendly model. There are some about $100 less, but they lack a lot of features and have essentially not customer support if needed. I'm a diehard Fluke fan for multimeters, but I only occasionally have to test motors and couldn't justify that sort of expense.

I think it's a technique issue with the different display readings, but it would be nice if the manual covered it. After the holidays I may try calling Klein to see if I can get a bit more information on what I'm seeing.

I managed to remember to take a couple of pictures with readings other than max using the suspected bad motor. These show the bar scale partially loaded and to my eye mean 464 M Ohms and 2,223.5 M Ohms respectively.

I read the second one as 2235Mohms, I do not follow the decimal place in that reading. Based on the 464 ohm reading with no decimal point, then at some point it is just displayed as whole numbers until you get below a certain mohm value. Maybe check with Klein to see how it should be displayed. I also read something that in the insulation testing if you did not hold the test button long enough the numbers and decimal place would vary.
