How to turn parts with nothing to grip?

Sounds interesting, I like the arbor and superglue idea. Let us know what you end up doing, and we would love to see the fineshed part.

If it were me I’d cut the inset and bell then flip around and put in a 5c collet cut to the inset diameter “ soft collet”. Then finish off cutting the cone and lip.

Cool to see more rocket builders around. Personally, I don't like external cones as they tend to be more fragile on landing. They do look cool and save weight though. My usual fields also have flammability issues, so exposed hot parts can be bad.

Not sure I have much to add on the machining, you have some good suggestions already. Be sure to show off the result. :)

So I machined a pair of cones, with center holes, connected by a machine screw. I can grip the nozzle tightly with this, and mount it in a chuck to turn the last part of the outside. I was prepared to use glue if the part slipped/spun, but it wasn't necessary. Shown is the fixture and the finished nozzle. Thanks for the help!

In his latest video, "Inheritance Machining" does a couple parts where he uses super glue to hold parts that he needs access to intire edge and face, a bit interesting...
