Expanding/enhancing Latinrascalrg1's suggestion:

Make a saddle mount to attach the workpiece to your cross slide. Mount an extended drill in your lathe chuck. The extended arbor on the drill can be made to fit your spindle bore. Drill by moving the carriage toward the headstock, wind back when you reach limit. Then extend the drill to the workpiece, rinse and repeat.
