Dan--look in ebay and search hermes blades---a whole cutter with new blades for $10.50---otherwise just have someone with a surface grinder sharpen them---Dave
I picked up that identical cutter at a yard sale for 15.00. I cut 20 gage sheet metal and shims with it with no visible damage. The blade does not have to be perfectly straight like a planer knife because only the intersecting point is cutting. Just find a way to grind a consistent bevel on the edge.
Well, I'm not sure about brass, but primarily it was use to shear laminated 2 color plastic for name plates and such. There was also an edger tool available to bevel the edges @ 45 degrees. It was just like a small joiner that used a router bit under a V block.
I have one just like it that I use for engraving laminate and engraver's brass, I got it off e bay, I think they sold it because it rolled the edges of whatever material it cut; all it needed was to have the blade clearance adjusted.
