How do you get rid of belt squeak?

I have a 7.5hp motor and 4 belts driving my lathe.
I recently replaced them because I assumed the new belts would get rid of the squeak, squeak, squeak.
As soon as I first turned on the motor with the new belts, all was quiet. made me smile.
The squeak is back.
They are properly adjusted.
I did not clean the grooves on either end.
What do you think?

Belt dressing ?
Dave,
I'm in the auto repair business. The techs have always said, "just say no to belt dressing"
I've never used it but I guess it works initially then gums things up pretty bad.
have you had luck with it? long term?

No Jeff . It works for a while and then turns very slick . We used it on B , BB and flat incline belts . After a week or 2 our cases of detergent would be sliding down the inclines and we would have to take an angle grinder and re-rough them up .

Kind of like WD-40, works great until it ruins everything.
Great Water Dispersing agent and aluminum cutting fluid.

Belt dressing is a waste of time and money.
Try Goodyear quiet belts.
Must buy matched belts when used together.

Good luck finding matched sets of belts now days. The bearing
supply house I have been using told me it doesn't matter to buy a matched set because of the improvement in the manufacturing of the belts. Is this true or were they feeding me a line?
