Nice job! For a note to ponder. The Levin manufacturing company (for example) has found that a 53° included angle works best for round belt drives. Apparently this angle has been found to have the best grip.

First run up was a complete success. Ran it for 15 minutes. Tomorrow I will reset the preload on the bearings or at least check it. Pictures to follow. I am extremely happy with this project.

Well Bill I am sure I speak for many of us that have followed this thread, when I say I have been very happy following this, and when it is all done will have withdrawal symptoms for sure.

Can't wait to see it in action.
All the best

David

Today we work on the drain and the apron that edges it whole thing. It's all cosmetics from here.

The catch basin was first. Parts were purchased for this. I stumbled onto the SS part at Walmart. The assemble Pic #2. The drain pipe had to be modified to accept the strainer. The bore was opened up .060, 1" deep. The flange was made smaller and the inside radius made smaller to accept the rim of the strainer.

Definitely near the finish line now! What a pleasant and educational journey it has been!!

Hear, hear. The only way to improve on this would be a field trip to Bill's house for a personal look.

With a good belt and the bearings preloaded again, I ran it for 20 minutes and checked the run out at the nose. It is less than .0001. I used a .0001 gage. It is good to go. This may or may not hold, it depends on bearing wear. Only time will tell.
