HF Band Saw blade problem.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so here's a couple. Also "no" the teeth are "not" touching the bearings and "no" I'm not cutting into the base. I've had this for about 10 or 12 years and know how to use it. Just wasn't too smart about what I was cutting! LoL

Being the blade is "whacked" I decided to make an extension to the vice handle. Got tired of having to reach up under to tighten/loosen. Had a piece of RPK barrel and dilled the heavy end to 9/16" and lathed the crank end down to 9/16" and is working good.

Side Note: I've been calling my band saw a Harbor Freight machine but is actually a Northern Tool machine. "Not that there is any difference other than the name."

It's even the same God-awful color as my HF.

(hint: reducing the diameter of a part in a lathe is called "turning")

My new toy came delivered today. 14" Chop Saw! Did I really need it? Nope but I bought it just the same. Tried it out on that pesky bed rail and it cut thru like it was cold butter! LoL Not a high dollar saw but for a hobbyist it work out just fine. Could have used one of my angle grinders but this was a good excuse to buy a new tool.

Same machine as the Delta brand saw I finally got rid of a few years ago after getting the Jet.

Never did like the delta all that much, it would not cut straight no matter what I did and I finally got tired of buying blades for it.

Bed rail. I won't cut that stuff with a band saw ever again. It's great material to use for some stuff, but it's the angle grinder and a cut off wheel from now an. And there's no way I'm going to bother trying to machine it besides maybe using a cobalt or carbide drill bit on it. Just not worth the effort.

The problem with bed rail is it's so unpredictable. I try to test it before throwing my good blades to the lions.
One or two hard carbon spots and blade life goes way down. A lot of it is usable tho, for non-critical applications like shelves and stuff
It can be hard to weld too, I've had some luck with 6011 and 6013 but it's often scabby.

My new Starett 14 tooth saw blade arrived today. I had to put it on the fast pulleys because the blade wanted to stall and slip. Now it cuts great and is cutting more true with the new blade and alignment. Think I'm going to order an 18 or 24 tooth for those harder metals. ( BUT I WILL NEVER SAW CUT A BED RAIL AGAIN! LOL )
