Halogen to LED Work Lamp(s) Conversion

Man those are pretty lamps Dark. I know you've set me straight in the past, but I picture your "lab" to be one h3ll of a clean place to be. I'd say make a video walk through, but I don't want to be let down.

Thank you.

Haha, my work space is small, no video needed, one pic would show how small my workspace is, lol. I try to keep it clean, well clean enough so I'm not constantly tracking on chips. I use a M18 blower to blow all the chips to the back wall (behind the lathe & mill) then when I feel the need I'll sweep & vacuum it.

Behind the mill got a bit of chips right now. Behind the lathe I cleaned when I did the lathe lamps cause I had to go back there to access the eletrical box. I use a couple of bins for the stuff that can't get vacuumed up.

You deserve bigger! You keep it so clean, make some nice stuff...and man....so well lit! I have to carry a torch I fashioned or of an old broom and gasoline.

Haha, thank you for the kind words! I wish I had more room, who doesn't? I don't want to rent out a small shop though. This is a just a hobby, I'm not a machinist, I don't make money doing it (well sometimes), and I like being able to just walk out to the garage to work on stuff.

Maybe one day if I move I'll look for a place where the garage is bigger than the house. :big grin:

Can you please list the brand and part numbers you used on the 24V halogen conversion with the wider optic. I looked at the supplier you referenced and all i did was get more confused. I have a 24 v halogen on my mill that i would like to convert -- thanks == Jack

These are the parts I used:
L1C1-7UP-840 - https://www.ledsupply.com/leds/luxeon-c-led-light-module
07006-H-350 - https://www.ledsupply.com/led-drivers/buckbullet-ac-led-driver

The optics I used were from a different vendor, much more expensive & they came from Canada.
PL121140 - https://www.luxeonstar.com/khatod-30-degree-40mm-7-led-40mm-round-optic
This one will work too, larger dia., same beam profile. PL121440 - https://www.luxeonstar.com/khatod-30-degree-50mm-7-led-40mm-round-optic

Another option if you don't want to buy those optics from Canada is to use diffusing film or a frosted lens.

If you don't mind a smaller form factor or prefer it LED Supply has 3UP & 4UP LEDs & they carry the wide beam optics for them. They are much cheaper. Can use the same driver I did to drive them but might want to drive them harder for more output to make up for less emitters. Needs sufficient heatsinking of course.
