[How do I?] Hafco AL 330 (Shaoxing CQ 6230A lathe)

Hi I'm back, it's Thursday. I'm editing post #15 to be the final word on the switch hookup.
So, have you been able to confirm the two switches are identical? If you have a new one we should use that one- they wear fast
I'm going to use your test results from post #17 check above for the new data
G'day Mark, now Friday in Oz.

The old switch is in pieces. What I can confirm is the switch configuration & physical dimensions are identical, and they both have 8 terminals.

I do have a new switch. It's the one in the continuity schematic below. I can confirm the continuity in the three operating positions.

OK go ahead and follow post #15, should light up like a bandicoot on meth

G'day Mark, back again - 6:30 am Sunday (Eastern Australia). Going to try and get the final fit up and testing done today but before doing so just wanted to double check a couple of things with you:
  • My interpretation of the final wiring diagram (pictured below)
  • There are no connecting straps on any of the motor terminals
  • And is this configuration OK for our Australian 240v power supply and motor
I'm probably being over cautious here, but I don't want to damage this new motor.

Cheers - Trevor

Thanks Mark, I'll report back with progress.
All good news at this end Mark.

I checked continuity through the rotary switch, reconnected all wiring as per the diagram, powered up, and everything worked exactly as you predicted it would. The Bandicoot lit up! :)

Thank you so much (and all others who contributed) for all of your help... and patience. The Hobby Machinist forum is a fantastic system.

Now I can move on to fix the next problem, an oil leak coming somewhere from the headstock. Is it best that I post this oil leak up as a new post on HM?

If you ever find yourself in Adelaide, Australia, please contact me, I owe you a beer.... or two.

Best regards - Trevor
