Ok.. so I take the original 440v motor down to the local armature shop, while they are looking at it and telling me that their rewiring lead time is quite extensive, what do I spy on the shelves.. a Lesson 192241 motor. Which was to my learned knowledge is a direct replacement for the original motor that was on the lathe. Best price i could find online was 384.xx, the shop let me have this new motor still in the box out the door for 300.xx. Now to find a VFD, i have one picked out and from what i can tell, is the best price i have found online for the model i want.
Managed to get another thread screw and put it on the lathe, local machine shop pressed the power screw back out and now I have it on the lathe. The fellas at the machine shop were very nice about getting the power screw back in order and they didn't charge anything for the work.. I felt blessed for that!
