I went to a swapmeet this morning. I found 2 small 3 jaw chucks. I never see small chucks 2” or so. Anyhow scooped them up for $6 each. One is a craftsman with 1/2”-20 threads. The other is a made in India with a 12 mm thread.
The craftsman is a bit heavy I think. The India one is better suited. The craftsman runs smooth. As for the India it is unused and sticky. It will need a tear down and good cleaning. I will see if I can find the D style collet adapter for them. Worst case is I can modify the supplied MT2 on the India one. The pain will be making a Buttress threading tool for 10mm.
I got 3 hours in today. I was able to get pretty far on the tool rest. All I need to do on the flipper is drill and ream a hole for the tool rest holder. The pivot is reamed .126 through one end of the base and flipper. The other end is reamed .125.
Tomorrow I will do that and make the holder se toon for the tool rest and the tool rest.
Got another 1-1/2 in today. I have it all finished up except getting a thumb screw to secure the toolpost. I also need to make a knob to secure the entire holder down to the bed.
