I am attempting to build a small cutter grinder and plan to include lots of photos.
So far, I have a 6” bench grinder and a 6” CBN wheel that has additional grit on the sides of the wheel. The grinder is mounted to a 3/8” CRS plate with another piece of 3/8” flat ground stock (A2 I believe?) to attach my indexer/ air bearing onto.
The spindle is almost complete. It is 1.500” diameter and bored to use R8 collets. I made a 7/16-20 drawbar with a 1/2” hex. A 10-32 set screw with a 0.130” dia dog point keys the collet for tightening and loosening.
I am going to mimic the spring loaded tilting design of the Weldon air bearing spindle to tilt the cutter away from the wheel.
